You can either be very lucky, or very unlucky. Both involve rain though - well, at least a bit of it. I spent 3 weeks bouldering/climbing at Stapylton/Arapiles in '03 around June/July. The temps were great (some mornings were 4-6 degrees up at HM Block) clear blue skies, but it rained a lot. Most of the things I wanted to do on Taipan were wet - and some days every single hold within the Ground Control and HM Caves was soaking - due to the constant mist sweeping in. Arapiles was a good alternative, for it missed a lot of the bad weather that the Gramps got - but of course not all of it. I remember one afternoon spent running laps on In Phase (the steep wall right of Kachoong) - all the while watching the rain come down and drown everything else. Similarly, we spent three days up on Kitten Wall dodging the rain - but climbed every one of those days. We weren't so lucky at Muline in comparison - absolutely soaked! You've just got to pick your spots well. If you get a blue sky day though - it can be the best.
