Not Australian news - but worth a mention for the accomplishment alone:
Perhaps the most impressive trad lead in terms of sheer difficulty has been accomplished by legendary all-rounder Dave McLeod - based in Scotland. He has led the long-awaited direct finish to Requiem - itself 8a+ (30). The whole route now goes at a reported 8c/8c+ (33/34) - but with the redpoint crux at the top - and a fall factor of 20 metres onto a #3 RP.
