Yes, I have seen it and was very encouraged by it!
Was climbing 3,500-4,000 peaks in Italy last August, and more than once I saw and met 'family' climbing teams - Mum, Dad, 2 or 3 Kids (8-10 or so year-olds) - all clipped to the same rope to cross the glacier from the hut and climb something - it was so cute and inspiring, and yeah, very common to see in Europe. Not to mention the rockclimbing crags lower in the valleys - even more so.

Oh yes, I agree with that. I was not saying it is impossible (referring more to Richard's post). Just wished there were more women who would voice their experiences - even if through a more casual medium such as a forum or whatever :-) ...I know they have things like that in some of the european Alpine Clubs, but haven't really seen it here.
