dynamic belaying? confused! |

I didn't have time to read all the above replies before mine so sorry if I've repeated a point. I think the major obvious benefit is that the belayer has the ability to recognise and adjust their belay technique to suit the circumstances - ie if there is a ledge directly below the leader, or an arete they'd prefer to miss. Also to reduce directed strain on oddly placed trad pro. Other than that dynamic belay is more fun, especially indoors, but may not be appreciated in a dogged lead attempt :p |
