He spent 2 days working it on a top rope and had his head in gear for the ascent,hence the smooth style. This is the sort of thing the uk grading ststem is uniquely good for, it tells you if you can do the crux before you start and whether your going to die if you fall or not,if that flake had good gear then the grade would be lower( though inevitably there is now a debate about the grade)..

I've no idea what it be on the Ewbank scale. The video doesn't really capture how steep the pitch is nor the slippy awkwardly angled nature of the rock. I'm an old pom, i think this sort of thing is the pinnacle of rock climbing,trusting your abilities and being rewarded for the effort required to reach your level. It may not be as physically demanding as the top sport climbs but we all know how hard moves we can do become when your facing a big lob .Each to their own of course and oz does have it's bold climbs and climbers, it's just not the prevailing ethic.
