yes, you're right...that's why they're planning on harvesting geothermal energy in SA ....it's a relatively 'active' area geologically speaking...I guess I was more referring to the Great Diving Range before in my earlier post...

That 'tension' you mention is what they call in geology a "rift"....like the East African rift...
