You sound like a true environmental/land contamination scientist there M8 ;-) ....in my former life as contaminated sites auditor, I second what M8 had to say.....you'd be surprised by the levels of things like arsenic and lead that can end up in g/w aquifers even when the water looks/smells/tastes divine ....how much farming did take (still takes place) around Araps? how close to the so called bore? if it's been going on for a long time, arsenic-based pesticides and vermin control were very common in the day and almost always found their way into the g/w (depending on the things that M8 already mentioned above).

Personally, I'd check council/land records on what that bore has (specialy if using the water regularly, meaning more than in just a 'one-off') - there has to be analytical records somewhere if the bore is used by the public, otherwise it would be locked.
