Generally, Nadia my partner goes where I go on trips (though she rarely cooks :P). So full car hurrah.

My station wagon is good for long trips and shite loads of gear. Though gas bottles and luxuries are not allowed on camping trips, stricly head torches, MSRs (or $20 kmart buthane cookers) and eating all day breakfast from a can with your nut tool.

If it's a long weekend I would recomend the Gramps as I will drive that far if you melbournites will drive two whole hours to get there (poor sods).

Normal weekend, I'm fairly easy as I have not been to most of these places and shitty camping conditions don't phase me (stay in a couple of shearers quarters in Kal and very little will phase you).
