I agree to a certain extent, though even around campfire no one appreciates the drunken motorbiker tearing laps of the pines at 1am.

Most forums have a killfile or blocking function so that users being abused can simply ignore posts by certain members, so I think I'll leave the "ignore posts" ability in place. It's already being used by a few users.

The voting idea has no precedent on other forums of which I am aware, but seemed like a good idea. So far, however, there has been no "landslide" voting towards any one user (though we are getting close), so perhaps you are correct and it is unnecessary. Let's leave it in place for a month or so, and if it proves a useless concept I can always remove it.

I thought about a "thumbs up" to balance it, but I think we need a better reason for it than it simply vote someone as being cool. Over on RC.com they have "thumbs down" to block the user (as we now have), and "thumbs up" to add the user to a "list of friends". We could also have a "list of friends" and when you logon the forum could, for example, give you quick links to recents posts by your friends and tell you when they last logged on. Do you think that would be useful? Then if I ever act upon the remove votes I could also take into account number of friends.

I think locking a thread is vital if inviduals are being abused. This forum is not the place for it. I'm not expecting a PG rating, but I think we can draw the line at XXX.

I guess I have less time to be skiming with. But the votes so far would seem to support your theory, so it must just be me. :-)

Well I gave Neil admin rights and left the job to him this year, but he's off overseas now, so if you're offering?
