The signal to noise ratio seemed to be suffering over the last few months so I decided some feedback would be handy with respect to moderation.

As some of you may have noticed there is now a little "thumbs down" function beside usernames. Use this to either hide messages by that user, or record your wish to have them removed from the forum should you feel strongly enough that their behaviour or messages are inappropriate.

I know I'm getting a little tired of wading through off topic nonsense remarks and personal grudges in otherwise useful threads. For me it just takes up too much time. For others some content might be offensive. For others still, it might be quite entertaining and valuable. So pending your feedback, I'm happy to disable accounts where sufficient (read "landslide") objections are made.

I'll still continue to delete individual posts that step over the mark (see help) as I find them, but I don't really have the time to monitor every new post, let alone retro-edited ones. So I'm hoping this new function will make the forum almost self regulatory. Anyway, we'll see how it goes.
