Can you make it look more like the Nowra guide?

No doubt there will be a few questions so here is a bit more info. This is a revised/update edition of the 2010 guidebook. As well as incorporating updated info we are giving the look of the book a big overhaul.

- We have changed the design to make better use of available space, it is mostly in two column layout, and uses a new and slightly larger font, which will all help improve the readability and usability of the book.

- Route lengths will be up in top line of the route descriptions (near the grade) instead of in the bottom line (near the first ascentionists names).

- The 2010 Ed used red/yellow/blue/black colour coding to indicate protection style (sport/sport on carrots/mixed/trad). For this edition we have done away with the yellow coding; if a route is fully bolted it will get the red (sport) coding. And if a route requires bolt plates it gets a separate bolt plate symbol - regardless of weather it is sport, mixed or trad. This is the same as in our Grampians guidebook.

- Stars... OK, well I think the 5 star system has some advantages but acknowledge there was a lot or resistance to that which can't entirely be put down to resistance to change... And maybe, in a comprehensive book like this where there are many routes where little info is known or they are simply shite... then... Anyway, so for the 2015 Ed we've gone back to a 4 star system, which is basically a 3-star system but with an occasional 4th star for mega-classics. This is the same as in the new Gramps guidebook.

- New areas. Yes there will be several new areas in this book: at least Bell, Elpinstone, The Pit and (probably) The Soft Parade. If you've developed an area you'd like to see if we can include, then please email me and we can discuss. I'm open to suggestions but time is limited.

- GPS co-ords. We have some data already, but if you have, or can help get, or can help check... then pls contact me.

- Timeline. The sooner the better for any corrections or new route info; as layouts get locked down new info gets harder to incorporate. Please use the feedback form and get us any info by 23 August. We plan to be at the printers in September and have it available in November.

Thanks everyone!

Simon

Are you paying for new sport route info based on route length or number of bolts this time? :)

So given that the Blue Mountains doesn't really have any mega-classics (unlike Victoria) that should bring it back to a 3 star system.

Yeah fair call Simey. I'll keep that in mind for the new Arapiles book.

Bumpity bump...

Hey everyone, just a quick update on this... so the guidebook has been printed and I'm expecting delivery in a few days, maybe this Friday or next Monday... We have a lot of pre-orders and will do our very best to get those all in the mail ASAP. So basically I'd say expect deliveries sometime next week. Many thanks to everyone who has pre-ordered. While I'm at it, thanks so much also to all the collaborators and contributors who helped make this 392 page, 3200 route, guidebook what it is. Personally, especially given the scope of the project, I'm extremely pleased to say the least with what we've been able to achieve; I certainly couldn't have done it without all the fantastic input, so thanks again to everyone who helped and especially those who went above and beyond!

If you'd like to preview the book, and it's not too late to pre-order, you can do all that from this link.

Also, earlier I said we'd have a few copies to give away to those who contributed info via the web form that we set up. We decided to give three copies away and we've had a draw... and I'm happy to announce the winners are: Evan Wells, Bruce Cameron and Lee Cujes. So congrats guys and we'll be in touch on that...

Cheers!
