Ruby Cumming turned nine today. She's been getting dragged out to the crag ever since her parents became obsessed with climbing about four years ago. She prefers dolls, dressing up and whatever makeup she can find. The other day, at the foot of a climb, she asked her folks if they would ever climb the Totem Pole. Her mum told her that she probably wouldn't but Ruby could one day if she wanted. Ruby responded incredulously "I'm not climbing when I'm older! I'm wearing high heels." I hope she changes her mind.
