After lunch various groups headed off for a swim as it was hot work up there in the sun and the black soil.

Some of us went and played in the surf and a pod of dolphins came and joined us, way cool.

Afterwards a few of us went to check out the south west crag. It looked alright from the beach.

The track in is looking a bit different.

And the crag got quite a cooking...

This didn't seem to perturb a large group who had set up topropes all over the crag..

Unfortunately all the access tracks are buried under the ash and burnt leaves, so erosion on the way up to the cliff is now a major problem.

Encouraging signs as some native ferns return...

This regrowth is very delicate. Please do not be a f*wit and dump your pack or your arse on these little babies.

Trees on the routes are toast and there is a fine layer of soot that will take a few rainstorms to wash off.
