Hello climbing friends! Just letting you know that my doco about climbing in the Canterbury region of New Zealand, Beyond The Plains, is now available to buy on DVD from the NZ Alpine Club, and a select few stores around Australia (hopefully more pick it up soon!). We explore bouldering at Flock Hill, alpine rock adventures at Twin Stream (Mt. Cook region), sport climbing on steep limestone of South Canterbury and awesome trad at Mt. Somers.
You can order it online here: http://alpineclub.org.nz/product/beyond-the-plains-dvd
I think it's really good! Although I did make it :P
Beyond The Plains has screened in Melbourne and Katoomba as fundraisers for the Canterbury Earthquake Appeal, raising over $1,600 AUD. We also screened it in Christchurch and held the DVD launch there a few months ago to a packed audience who loved the film. It has screened at the NZ Mountain Film Festival in Wanaka this year also : )
I made it while working at the Christchurch climbing gym, The Roxx. Am living in Melbourne now, working, climbing, and looking forward to shooting the next one.
If you're at all curious about climbing around Christchurch, this is the film to watch..
cheers
Brett
