As James is saying, the higher the risks you take, such as when and where you ride, increase your chance and therefore the possibility of a head injury MORE than the decision to wear or not wear a helmet. Climbing is the same, what you climb and how climb, has a greater influence over the possibility and severity of head injuries MORE than the decision to wear or wear a helmet. Its not a difficult concept to grasp.

Yes, wearing a helmet does reduce the severity of a head injury, whether it be riding, climbing, driving, walking down the road, sitting at your desk......
