|23/08/2017-7:00p||:30pm - VCC Club Nights @ Gravity Worx (AUGUST)|
Location: Gravity Worx Indoor Climbing Gym
Leader: Mark Rippingale
Details: The VCC are holding regular Club Nights at Gravity Worx Indoor Climbing Gym. Initially these will be held fortnightly on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. For August, the nights will be Wed 9th and 23rd August.
These Club Nights will be relaxed and informal. The idea is that you can come along without a climbing partner and join in with other VCC members. It gives you the opportunity to meet other VCC members and find regular climbing partners. Or you could climb without a partner using one of the 16 auto-belays available. Perfect for those wanting to do some endurance training. Continuous climbing on these tall walls will certainly do the trick.
Mark Rippingale will be the official 'Trip Leader' on these Wednesday Nights. So find Mark when you arrive and have signed in. There is no need to contact Mark prior to these nights - just turn up ready to climb.
For these VCC Nights, the cost of entry for VCC members is $15, plus gear if needed. This is a heavily discounted entry for VCC members.
Beginners are most welcome.

|End of Month @ Araps (Aug) with Tree Watering and Mulching|
Location: Mt Arapiles
Leader: Tara Laursen

Nurture the new trees in the Campground and watch them grow as you return to the Mount in coming years! The tree watering and mulching will happen on the Saturday morning commencing at 0900. Once the watering and mulching of the trees is finished, we can head out climbing.

|Mt Rosea 2017 - 'Trad Perfection'|
Location: Mt Rosea, Central Grampians
Leader: Amber Blodgett
Here is your chance to visit one of the classic trad cliffs of Victorian climbing. Mt Rosea is a significant cliff with a proud place in Victorian Climbing history. With a vertical height of between 90 and 120 metres, most climbs require from 3 to 5 pitches, even with 60 metre ropes. The cliff has a uniform steepness that makes climbs quite sustained and there are no really easy climbs here; there is no Tiptoe Ridge or Spiral Staircase. You need to be very comfortable leading grade 12-13 and the cliff really shines for those climbing between grades 16-22. In the terms of VCC Club Trips, you need to be an Advanced Climber.
The focus of the trip is to introduce people who havent climbed at Rosea before, or who have done a little but found it intimidating. More experienced climbers can spread their wings a bit in the more relaxed atmosphere you get when theres a group of people to relieve the isolation. Everyone should get up a multi-pitch climb on each day, weather-permitting, and there are some good single or two-pitch options to help round out the day.
Rosea will test your route-finding. You dont get the opportunity to view the cliff in full and pick out your line against a photo. You arrive at the base of the cliff and can only clearly see the first 40 metres or so before fore-shortening collapses the features.
You should come away from the weekend with a healthy respect for the cliff, but confident that you are capable to explore it further yourself.
Even though this trip is for Advanced climbers only, participant numbers on this trip will be limited. Please contact Amber, the Trip Leader, for more details and to secure your place on this trip.

Location: Australian Centre for Contemporary Art

Details: As part of theGreater Together Exhibition at the Australian Centre of Contemporary Art, the VCC is supporting the Melbourne based group Field Theory. These artists are preparing for the worst, but hoping for the best, and when it all goes down they want to be ready. We will participate in theSurvival Session #6, run a knot tying workshop and demonstrate abseiling from the roof of ACCA. If you always wanted to do some legal urbex and do some odd-ball climbing activities, you'll be in the right spot!
Due to the nature of this trip it is only open to advanced members - preferably current trip leaders. Places are very limited. Please contact Philipp for more details and if you're interested in joining this trip.
