Ignore Topic Function?

Should we have an "ignore topic" function?

The signal to noise seems much worse lately, and it's mostly not even funny, its just inane dribble (who would've thought I'd miss Damo and Bourge). Probably the only thing that's saved me from giving up on the Chockstone forum altogether is starting to use the "ignore user" option. It would make things better if I could also ignore entire threads. I have several in mind!!

Note I am not saying people can't dribble away to their heart's content - I just want to be able to chop it out.

Again this relates to the big brother evictions thread - http://www.chockstone.org/Forum/Forum.asp?Action=DisplayTopic&ForumID=1&MessageID=13445&PagePos=&Sort=&Replies=53&MsgPagePos=0

I say we vote Will off the island!! ;-)

Its easy enough not to click on the topic that you don't fancy. And if you have selected to ignore the main contributors to the trash then life will be peachy anyway..

Mike could always code a text checker so that if a post doesn't contain enough references to climbing terms from the dictionary they can't be displayed!!??

Okay, I've had a stab at adding this feature. You'll find a "Hide Topic" link to the right of the Topic Heading once you've selected a topic to view. Clicking this link will hide the topic from only the logged on user's sight. Of course it will still be visible to everyone else, and also visible to people who are not logged in. To undo this action, use the "My Hidden Topics" button found at the base of your profile form.

Please let me know if there are any bugs.

Beauty, thanks Mike ... I couldn't ask for better service than that! Seems to work perfectly

Yes, yes, YES!

Mike, once again you've come up with the goods. No-one can complain about the signal to noise ratio now, cause you can set it yourself. As long as the kids stay in their pens, that is.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Stick to the subject matter, folks, inane chat about off-forum topics kills forums like these.
Good one though Mike, I will use this.

Signal to noise ratio lapsing?

I thought the PM function was meant to go a long way towards solving the noise problem.
It would still do so if more heavily promoted.
