Hey everyone,
Im going to be in Victoria August,September and October 2004. Iam a little confused about your weather in Victoria during these months, because I am from Canada. I dont think it is the best time of the year for climbing but i hope to still be able toget out and climb as much as possible. So can you tell me what places ae good to climb during these months.

Check the guide. I take it you're worried about rain. I've mentioned sheltered rainy day areas in the Grampians and Arapiles descriptions. Either of these locations are fine even if the weather is miserable. Avoid damp forests like Camels Hump, Ben Cairn, Cathedral, Warraguls and avoid alpine areas such as Mt Buffalo. But basically anything else is fair game all through winter. You're here for a long time and bound to get several consecutive clear and maybe even sunny days during that period.

We're all a little bit confused about the weather here too...
If you don't like the weather when you get here, wait half an hour

Temps don't get colder than 0'C in most crags in Victoria over winter. It will be cold - in the low teens in the middle of the day. Bring a down jacket and avoid the beach!

It seems that you will be arriving here at a time which may bring a fair bit of rain. As such, be sure to be ready to spend time on steep stuff that is protected from rain. Give us an idea of what sort of grades you want to do on sport / trad so we can maybe suggest crags....

It can get a damn sight colder than zero at Arapiles in spring. On clear nights from August to October it can drop to -5C. That's rare but -1C & -2C are common. This is one of the wetter times of the year but the rain periods usually aren't too long.

I was comparing it to your typical Canada winter of -30'C!
