Rock Climbing Definition

Simul-rap Rather than one person abseiling on both strands of a single rope folded in half or two ropes joined together, instead, two people abseil, one on each strand their individual weighs offsetting each other. This advanced technique can sometimes be the only way to get off free standing pillars where there are no fixed anchors at the top. ie, one descender heads off the north face, while the other heads off the south face and both hope like hell the other doesn't release the line before they are down. This method is only used by experienced climbers.
