Reminds me of Lerderderg (difficult access, limited appeal, similar coloured rock). |

@ Phantom Menace Wall,
~> I am amazed at what the lowest height 50 m of climbing in a 300 m deep gorge can look like with the 'perspective' of photography! The contrast within this photo that blacks out the depth, makes it look like the climber is on the headwall up near Cooee Point!
It is still a good photo that incorporates a sense of 'depth' (climber to belayer), and symmetry (shadow top right with blacked out left side).
Not that it greatly affects the photographic qualities, but to me the moment captured, makes it look like the belayer is a bit disinterested in events taking place, and I am surprised (from personal experience of Bungonia), that helmets are not being worn! |

Flowstone? Is it the top of a cave? |

It's stone that appeared to have flowed (and hardened) over the harder base layer. |

I love it - one of my favourites for a while - can't comment on the quality fo the climbing or rock (which is worrying others) but it is a striking composition and it is the photo that counts! |

Lovely pic. As has been said, very European feel. |

Awesome framing! I suspect the blackness has been 'deepened' on photoshop(???), but that's all part of the skill in modern photography.
Ps. If the photographer waited few moments until Neil was clipping, it would have added to the interest in the climbing. |

Blackness is not photoshoppped. It was an incredibly bright day, and the rock is almost white - so very reflective. |

Nice shot - I like that the photographer accepted that they weren't gonna
get any shadow detail so they just let it be black...now if only I could get
my camera to do that.
@Gavo
Really!? Clipping has got to be the most boring action in climbing
photos! Much better to see a shot of actual climbing |

Pretty good photo of a crazy area, but I'm not sure I like the difference in exposure.
Speaking of which...who's been leaving fixed ropes below the Phantom Menace wall ledge? When we went for a walk through the Gorge a month ago, non-climbing friends noticed them immediately and asked me what they were there for... |

There is a couple of fixed ropes down there - on the left side is one (two?) ropes that have been there for a few years - they are actually not attached to to the top of the cliff - some idiot untied the top anchor and threw them down - not realizing they were attached to bolts halfway down the climb - so now there is a rope hanging in space attached to a single bolt halfway up the cliff. They are on one of the Cossey Bros projects. There is also another fixed rope 50m to the right of the Polenta Pumper - that's mine. An aborted effort to try and find an easier route up to that upper ledge. I should be able to pull it down in the next few weeks. |

@ Olbert
Four points of contact, body sqaure on to the rock seems pretty boring to me.
I don't know about you, but some of my most 'exciting' climbing moments have been while clipping. |

NIce shot! That rope actually belongs to Graham Fairbairn... he was kind
of keen initially to finish bolting the line but if anyone was interested i'm
sure he'd be happy for someone to do it in return for taking the rope down. |

@Climberholic I wasn't really implying that this was a shot of awesome
action, just that instead of him clipping it might have been nice to have
him in the middle of a dyno or long reach or something. I just thought
the way to improve the photo is not to have one of Neil clipping but of
Neil doing something.
Also yes some of my most exciting moments have been clipping,
especially when I have committed and then blown it with a big handful of
slack in my hand. I don't think that means it makes for a good photo
though. |
