Great photo - makes me want to be a good climber rather than a bumbly!
Am I the only one who would place the top two draws facing to the left
instead of to the right. Does anyone know which way the climb goes above
this photo - I'm guessing that its taken from the belay? |

Hi Pat,
The picture was taken quite a bit below the top belay. In fact, Alex was
hanging on the lip of a small roof to take that picture. Had he gone
further, he would have lost sight of me.
BTW, this is not the second pitch of Lief Ericsson but the third one...
My apologies. That climb is a four pitch climb, all pitches are graded at
23. In my book, in order of decreasing (why not?) difficulty: 1, 3, 4, 2.

OK photo, but since I am prejudiced towards trad using gear, I mostly find it interesting for trying to visualise the sequence used to arrive at the photo point. Climber is too distant to really focus on the 'movement' and the chalk tells more story as a consequence.
I like the perspective, as it gives a sense of being 'out there', ... and on a climb a couple of grades harder than what I can get up!
@ Am I the only one who would place the top two draws facing to the left instead of to the right.
Re the rope clipping krabs I agree with you, and would also make the same comment for the fourth quickdraw down. |

Sorry who gives a shit about which way the draws are facing. Not a bad photo under the circumstances and certainly makes me want to get out and try it.....the rock looks superb. Any idea which sector it is in narrowneck....and if it's in the new guide. |

"Sorry who gives a shit about which way the draws are facing".
You when you peel and the rope unclips.
Cool pic by the way, great looking rock. I like the distance to the second - great perspective.

@maxdacat: The access to Lief Ericsson is from the Cave Climb abseil.
Once down, walk ~100m to the left (facing the cliff). The climb is clearly
marked with "LE". Concerning the grades, Simon Carter wrote "I thought
the first pitch pretty solid for 23. It'll definitely be getting 23 for all pitches
in the revised guidebook." I agree, the first pitch is really solid but the
second is rather soft. |
