& several other posters later in this thread also attest to the non user-friendliness of that site.

The original poster asked for feedback, so I gave some by email yesterday and this is the quick response that I got back.

Thanks so much for the info, Rod. I'm off to check out the Sydney harbour site listed.

I've just today been going through a review done of the site by the original web designers with the project manager to try to disentangle some the scariest bits. I suspect our being so tied to the management plan in it's original linear form is at the root of a lot of the problems.

Any suggestions are welcome .

Regards
Stacy

Subject: Parks Vic. blog. ~ feedback.

G'day Stacy,

Some time ago you posted on Website 'Chockstone' the message contained at the bottom of this email, which amongst other things sought feedback.

Here is some feedback on the Parks Vic website (set up for giving constructive feedback!), found here;

http://weplan.parks.vic.gov.au/

An example thread being ...

http://weplan.parks.vic.gov.au/wiki/view/Plan/Part3Sec5HowTheParksAreUsedDiscussion

Myself (and plenty of others I know), do not consider it to be a very user-friendly site, due being convoluted/cumbersome and also in my opinion, potentially open to hacking of ones posts by others through the edit function!

Here is an example of the NSW equivalent;

http://sydneyharbourpom.net.au/topic/what-activities-to-allow-or-ban-in-our-national-park

... that is found here;
http://sydneyharbourpom.net.au/

~> A much 'cleaner' / user-friendly setup!!

Having used both sites I can now confirm that if I try and post a reply agreeing/disagreeing with a previous post on any given thread on the PV website it can be a frustrating experience when faced with the difficulties that it entails.

~> This is sad given that 'general public' are trying to do what Parks Vic. actually want(!) on their website, but stop trying after an initial frustration.

Both sites (NSW and Vic.), I understand, were set up at about the same time. If the admin-peoples compare the volume of response on the different sites, it will back up my premise that the Parks Vic. one is missing out on a lot of potential feedback.

If you think it worthwhile, feel free to forward this email on to whoever administers that site.

Regards,
Rod.

Hi, I work at Parks Victoria and we’re just starting the review of the Victorian Alpine National Parks management plan. The area due for review includes the Alpine, Baw Baw, Mount Buffalo, Errinundra and Snowy River national parks.

As real park users I thought you’d be interested in the blog we've just started to let people know what we’re doing. Once a table on contents and base info has been developed we’ll add a Wiki so any interested people can start editing and help us understand what they want from the parks.

It is time to take a fresh approach to park planning so join us at weplan.parks.vic.gov.au

Cheers
Stacy
(and give me yell if you register on the site to tell me what you think, it’s very early days so feedback is really appreciated)
