Why do I feel like I'm walking into an ambush?

Outdoors - 150 meters Indoors - 40 meters (still failed my lead check. Stupid Eddy!)

Booyah ODH. Bet you weren't expecting that...;) I can feel a smackdown coming!

I'm sorry sir, this is a high-roller's table. The nickle slots are over there by the washrooms. Have a nice day.

Actually miguel, I'm quite impresed, didn't think you'd pull out a number that big. When you say you failed the belay test..........was it a splat-fail?

If this was old school Vegas I'd get free drinks

Cheers ODH. I failed mentally! I was short ropped going for a few clips and as I was hanging out all I could think about was any injury I sustain may cost me my place in the fire brigade... I tried a few times though couldn't push through before deciding that getting my lead ticket wasn't as fun as climbing outside. It doesnt help that I have a mistrust of the Eddy born of frustrating attempts at using it for lead.

Yeah, don't ya just wanna punch the pimply little gym kid when they start telling you how their gym's particular belay method is the only safe way, and what you do is "unsafe"?

Anyway, I doubt anyone else is gonna play.

500m (real m, not exagerated guidebook m)

Maybe 400m ish on tues and wed - whilst i was sick. Only figured out I was crook when my hands kept peelin off holds half way up 17's in the gym. So it would have been at least 1400m if I was well. Lets just use that figure and say I beat ya fair and square. Sorry ODH - better luck next time. Can't win em all.

What the shit? You were climbing in the gym! You didn't even climb as much as me despite the fact that you were in the gym, and you wanna claim a win?

You're not even on the nickel slots, you're playing poker on your Iphone!

Actually I could'nt even climb in the gym, I was too knackered. So if we take the 80 odds meters off from that disaster - that would leave 1320 - still beat ya cowboy!

If ya need to spk to someone about it, I know a great quack.

It would be hard to deal with an imaginary 900 metres.
And u can play poker on an iphone?
What about on my old nokia 5230?

I figure it's their ball, they can do what they like but yeah I don't see the point in making everyone use XX device when they use YY device every other day of their climbing life!

>Anyway, I doubt anyone else is gonna play.

I like this game! Being unemployed has it's climbing benefits and I'm getting a few meters under my belt. I'm trying to work my weaknesses like strength, technique, footwork and style and I'm liking slabs and cracks at present.

I'm still trying to decipher Shortman's version of english..........he climbed 400m in the gym, but then it turned into 1400m, but then discounted the gym stuff and still beat me by 900m..........what was actually climbed? 1400m of rock? I'm very impressed. Which crag you hanging at?

Bought some new shoes on tuesday.....did about 220m of traversing and 10 x 13m vertical climbs, all about grade 1, maybe pushing 3. The other 1000m was hypothetical ODH, based on feeling well. Sounds fair to me and that your just a sore loser. I even took off the gym meters for you to feel better.

Not a bad effort at all Dan though I reckon ODH has us both beat. This time! What shoes did you end up getting?

Thats like going in the Olympics, not even entering cos you were sick but claiming the gold anyway! "Na, see, I actually won cos if I wasnt sick I would have run soooooo much faster than you - look see my training times!! They arent quite as good as your real times but when you account for the fact Im sick...!"

To put this back vaguely on topic... here is a pic of the camalot I broke a few weeks back. I was using it as a directional when bolting and it snapped about 50m above. As you can see one the cables has snapped off. I have to admit that that cable had one frayed wire on it that I hadn't paid much attention to. The cam was about 19 years old and had a tough life. It was actually the first cam I owned...
