I don't see how is this not more offensive than the moderated post?
It's just blunt and the way he expresses himself. I have no problem with him but according to the rules, then yes he has breached that and it is your call to take him offline for a week @ Dalai.

I think he's no trouble, this is all that I see:

Just don't quote him ok.
Actually in the spirit of kicking a man when he's down I think I'll vote him off the forum too. Chockstone is a nasty place at the moment.

I don't really understand the whole 'vote off the island' thing. Let's say ODH gets enough votes and is sent to the far away naughty corner, what's the real implication? He can easily set up another account (just like another well known chockstoner) and have just as much fun.
On another note, I enjoy Damo's contrariness! He raises some salient points and, in my opinion, has awesomely quotable put downs;)

ODH can be a bit of a forked toungued keyboard warrior but I reckon some ppl take it all a bit too seriously..... I guess sarcasm and jokey payouts dont translate as well to a computer screen as they do when coming directly from the horeses mouth?
Chockstone can be a pretty dull place without him, if he offends you just block him and leave the rest of us have a chuckle at his posts

Which of the several "well known chockstoner" in that category, are you referring to?
For the long-termers that frequent this site we have seen the style repeats and the getting-binned repeats recycled, sometimes often; but the end 'implication' is that User ID's like Hex (including his many reincarnations), end up with time-out, sometimes permanently (of sorts) as in Hex's case, no matter the new User-ID/s he takes on...
I have noticed some posters stir up their contribution by swapping ID's (and with other Posters too!), but if regulars are aware of it, then I suspect that the Mods with their enhanced capabilities, would also be aware of it.
More the surprise, is the tolerance shown by the Mods in my opinion!

I find putting people in the sin bin temporarily to be a bit nonsense. This is how people discipline children, and I wouldn't call it highly effective then either. Damo is not a child and knows exactly what he is doing and is going to continue doing it next week, and the week after, and so on. Surely this is screamingly obvious? As we are all also not children, can we all choose to respond to it how we think is appropriate? Like rather than having parental style moderation, people who find he has stepped over a line for them can choose their own response. They could keep as all amused by fighting back (in full awareness that it's all highly likely to escalate, but hey, it can fun if you're up for it), post a calm, i statement based response about the effect of the post and their problems with it (which in all likeliness result in de-escalation), ignore it, or utilise that other rather nonsense feature of the forum, the ignore user feature. I guess a lot of people are getting a really dull view of the forum, as I figure there's a reasonable overlap in the people ignoring ODH, WWS, Simey, Neil and me.

I only ignore M9 because hes an aid climber so obviously doesn't have anything important to say.

ODH can be a tool, and is fun when he carries on like a tool, its even funnier now I know about his silly hat.

Now you know what some people's view of chockstone must look like, Rod! They must have entire threads like that!

DJ: " Is it possible to tweak it so its not all round stock?"
ODH: "Why would you want to do that?
To prove that a non-round biner can break like that?...... "
Notice how the first two lines are properly formed questions? The third line is a statement, with a question mark; a well dressed strawman. Followed by blah, beat up straw man here, blah.
I tend to agree with ODHs conclusion about his own statement.

yup, checks out, ODH 36 living in Canberra. But seriously, it's the internet, stirring sh1t is fun...ODH interested in a climb when I am back in Canberra sometime?
Also wondering what it would run like using square and round stock as might happen with brackets. Just out of curiosity.
