sabu 15-Mar-2005 10:11:44 PM	i didn't realize there was much ice climbing in Vic, also by wat do you classify moutaineering here, just hiking in snow or much more? i'll hav to take note of this for the future, if im not too tempted by the prospect of skiing!!!!!
nmonteith 16-Mar-2005 9:16:31 AM	The secret to doing 'real' mountaineering in Australia is to only climb in the worst weather. You can expect 150kmp/h+ winds, -15'C temps and hard ice if you time it right! Jono and I used to set up tents on 45 degree slopes and really pretend we were in the big mountains. Mostly it is just snow plodding with the occasional vertical bit. Obviously we have no glaciers....
