Hi all,
Just wondering if any other climbers with kids or babies are interested in regular climbing trips? Grampians, Arapiles or daytrips around Melbourne.
Me and my wife are both experienced and safe trad climbers. It seems easier to go in a group when climbing with young'uns.
Cheers!
Tony

I got a little one due any day now, and a 5 yr old. Give us 6-8 weeks and will be keen as. We live close to the youies, so day trips would be a goer.

There's also a facebook group: "Climbers with kids", which has a bunch of people from melbourne / geelong / elsewhere. Sport climbing / bouldering is easy, trad climbing a bit tricker when you've got top belays and walkdowns.

I'd be up for some family action Tony and you too Dan. There's a bit of a chocky baby boom going, best of luck with the new little ones.

I find it interesting that pi started a poll thread that included an option of "yes - and I like to see young people cry", knowing full well that M75 was a contender to attend...
What is with the 'best of luck' (more than once in this thread), thing? Is it some kind of sadistic group or what?
;-)
As an aside, been there, done that. My kids did not respond to the climbing indoctrination and excelled at other pursuits instead.

Thanks for the tip Goshen, will definitely join the group.
Miguel, up for a trip sometime soon? I'm on parental leave so can do weekdays depending on your roster, either bouldering with the baby or roped if I can get a babysitter.
M9, positive signs so far, my daughter seems to study my poor footwork at Burnley from the pram!

We're based in Sydney and climbing anywhere between Nowra, the Bluies and Port Stephens most weekends. We'll climb sport up to about a grade 22 or trad on something easier Our kids are 12 & 9 and have a go most of the time on whatever we're on. We'd be happy to link up with anyone wanting to bring the kids along. They're convinced they're the only people, in Sydney, their age out rock climbing. Maybe they are.

Naahh, my mates 12yo son did the first ascent of a 15 the other day, seconded by my 8yo daughter. And yes, I am boasting. :-) Kids rock. (Hey - I did a Dad joke!)

I'll PM you my details and we'll see what we can do. We could have a 'We miss Ben E' memorial climb...

I've found Camels Hump a great spot to take my kids, 10 and 16.

Hmmm I dunno..... to be a true memorial it would have be an off width granite grovel fest!

You say that like it's a bad thing?
And anyway, what do you mean "memorial climb" - I'm not dead yet! (just haunting chockstone like a ghost with unfinished business)

if it is to be a memorial climb for Ben_E. It would have to be Half Man Half Biscuit at Black Hill :)
