Hey Rod & all,
I'm really keen to get out there for this.
Is there anyone driving from Melbourne and back that would have space for an extra passenger?
I'm a complete noob in the dark arts and haven't climbed much at all in the last year, but am dying to get back to it.
I'll be flying down from Sydney the week prior and probably won't be able to bring a huge amount of kit with me. What would be essential?

No harm in starting the ball rolling now, however closer to the event I was going to post up the list of participants along with location departing from; for final confirmations, and to facilitate vehicle passenger sharing, for those that need it.
To my knowledge there are at least three Melb based people attending, and there are quite a few others I have not met yet, who list their Chocky profile location as 'Victoria'!

Preferable essentials: enthusiasm, common sense, and hopefully also include your harness, helmet, and belay device, plus comfortable footwear to aid in.
Probably not what you were referring to, but something else to consider would be clothing for an alpine environment subject to potential cool weather changes...

Sorry to hear of the schedule conflict.., though more of this can happen, as it is still some time off yet.

~> After amending the 'list' accordingly, I still have 28 names down (as 17 definites and 11 probables), which includes people attending possibly from as far away as Qld !

Given the USA shutdown affecting climbing plans elsewhere, it has prompted me to think about what may affect our modest weekend plan at Buffalo, and I figure the worst case scenario would be a bushfire or closed road due a landslide.
That is beyond our control, ... however, on the topics of pain, suffering & salvage; ... given the number of people interested in the Buff w/end I am committed even if the weather is atrocious, to going ahead with it in the hope that some can salvage something over the two (more for some), days involved, so bring your wet weather gear!!

We're novice aid climbers (we've done a few fumbling C1 pitches with a top-rope backup), and we have most of our own gear (normal trad gear + hooks, daisies, aiders, and ascenders).

Me, Bultitude & a couple of others will be there although we will hopefully take care of ourselves.

Current plan is a slow n steady 2-day ascent of Defenders Of The Faith with a portaledge.

I've got the leave for the week afterwards as well.

As it stands I'll be there with an open spot on my portaledge. My plan is to bivi on banana blasé or some other suitable, and fun, location...

If anyone's keen for a snuggle on the ledge of love let me know...

I'm not gunna make it now, starting a kayaking trip on the 8th of November. Hope everyone has fun, i'm happy to lend any gear needed if people want to pick it up in Canberra

Well, it depends, there is that guy who tried putting a tiny hole is his ledge to let out out pooling water who kinda figured the same thing, and found out . . ..
