The lack of response has little to do with the Aussie chick bit, it's because she wanted to climb at Altona. Nothing wrong with the gym except it's on the wrong side of the city for most people and doesn't have fantastic public transport options.

In the absence of ODH I'll run an ODH type analysis and the conclusion is: Climbers from both Melbourne and Sydney are gay!
Oh hang on I'm from Melbourne ;p On the other hand it could just be that no one wants to commit to climbing regularly at Altona ... Which is kind of strange, the last few times I went to Altona, strangers walked up and asked to climb with us.
Who knows, with the recent Cudo deal, and that new route setting appears to have slowed down at Hard Rock city there could be an influx of newbie and non-regular Altona climbers there over the next six months.
PS anyone know if there are many new routes at Altona? I've got vouchers to use up.
PPS Dammit Andrew beat me to the point whilst I was typing, probably because he was getting to the point instead of faffing around.

Not likely as many of them are now on the Heritage register as they have been around so long.

Hey, I got a response! And I thought this was dead. But seriously...
My post was directed at ODH's "I guess all Melbourne climbers are gay" comment, but, yes, I was using you and your post to do that, and having re-read it, I can understand that it may be offensive to the subject (you), especially if inaccurate. And I'm not disingenuous enough to pretend that the 'No offence, Sarah' actually lessens that. So I apologise, and acknowledge that you're probably an intelligent, independent, capable person, and wish you all the best in your climbing career.
