Hi I'm a 26 y/o female, and I'm looking for a climbing partner for some weeknights at cliffhanger gym in altona north. I'm an intermediate climber, so far only top rope climbs but looking to increase my skills, also up for some outdoor weekend climbs if anyone's keen but obviously I don't have any trad gear. Let me know if anyone's interested.

It would seem that there are a lot of busy or shy people out there. Or is it the idea of a top-rope climber?
I would like to help but live in nsw.
I am sure you could find people to climb with at your local gym if you asked around.
Have fun, climb lots.

Hmmm, 24 hours with no response. Melbourne climbers are all gay, just as I suspected!

Not all of us are gay, some just don't climb (very well) much anymore. Starbuck, if you're keen to try aid climbing, I'm happy to catch up at Werribee gorge.

Come April/May, I'll be up for all the mid grade Arapiles climbing you can eat

I'm moving back down south after 2 years in Sydney (and not a lot of climbing....much to my disappointment!!). I will be looking to get back into it again......lots of trips to Araps! So definitely looking for climbing partners as well. I have my own gear - had just started to lead before I moved to Sydney so will have to freshen my skills again! Happy to bumble away with you Sarah if you're keen to go to Araps.
Eduardo - might have to contact you in April/May to climb.
On another note - are there any South Aussie climbers out there who are looking for someone to climb with in SA?

Finding a partner at Altona shouldn't be hard, most people are willing to fit someone into their group, and if you asked the staff they would be likely to introduce you to a few people. Certainly on Wednesdays from 6:30 we have a group that varies from 4 to 8 that would be happy to climb with you. I'll PM you with some more details.

I, too, will need TLC, as I'l be returning from a long time off injured.
So, be gentle with me.

There are lots of SA climbers, and everyone is always keen for another solid climbing partner.
When you get into town pop into the gym or head out to Morialta or the Summit one weekend and you'll meet a bunch of people.
Otherwise, the Climbing Club of South Australia has a new facebook group that seems reasonably active, that'd be a good way to meet some people.

Of course! Although I think it will be me who will be quietly cursing....
I guess I have a few months to get my act together before being gentle with you.

Excellent! Thanks for that Mike. Is Holden Hill the only gym in SA? - I've done a search but it seems that's the only one that comes up. I'll be living down at Goolwa so will check out the Bluff at Victor Harbour. Keen to get to the places you mentioned as well - are there any guides on these places? Thanks for the info :-)

Goolwas is awesome. My folks have a place down there so I head down for kayaking and relaxing quite regularly.
The Bluff has some cool climbing, but better still, in my opinion, check out Waitpinga.
There is a new guide out for the Adelaide Hills, this is available from the gym and the climbing stores in Adelaide. It's not the quality of the Araps guide, but then again, neither is the climbing!
In terms of gyms the Holden Hill one is the only roped climbing gym in SA. Boulderzone is a bouldering gym that started up a few months back and due to some WorkSafe issues isn't actually charging for climbing currently, so thats getting reasonable traffic. Find Boulderzone on Facebook if you're interested.

Possibly. Or perhaps after the initial read, we pondered the idea of climbing indoors with someone who introduces themselves as "Aussie chick", and found the image of comparing Southern Cross tattoos and discussing the latest Nickelback album over a pre-mixed bourbon & coke not as appealing as first suspected. No offense, Sarah.
