Although the latest Mt Buffalo Guidebook lists some/various aid climbs and grades, it is by no means comprehensive in that respect.
Earlier guidebooks contained the M grade a climb originally went at, but this information was not forwarded on in subsequent editions (once they were freed), other than for a few of the classics that are still popular clean aid lines; and even then, the aid grades in latter years are listed sometimes as easier than in the former years, due to gear and climb evolution.

~> Having said that, it is still well worth buying the guidebook, although the grade conversions for aid contained within it, are not as straightforward as the earlier conversions I gave, due the authors are more into free climbing than the subtleties of aid!

Heh, heh, heh.x sensitive pedant!

She threatened to come to Buffalo for a block of chocolate once...
If memory is still working, I think I promised the block as payment to her to write up a trip report about her first aid-climbing experience!*

(* Btw; she had such a good time, you will surely get her attention by posting to this thread!).

... ~> which reminds me. There is another young lass who promised an aid climbing trip report once as well, ... though she did cook me a fantastic meal instead.☺

For anyone in this situation who may be considering attending...

As hargs indicated earlier, a lot will be learnt.
Whether or not you want to continue with aid is up for debate! ... ~> however a couple of people who attended the last weekend have become enthused to the point of doing Ozymandias later this month!!

In my opinion the attendees who will likely get the most out of the weekend are those with the least experience.
They may learn a couple of tricks to put in the experience bag that could help out down the track; like being able to get up a difficult bit of rock relatively safely if ever needed in a self-rescue, or at least simply feeling more comfortable with what trad gear will /will not hold in its usage.

It is an opportunity to give it a go and see if it is for you.

Any chance of two late additions? Keen to meet some climbers and learn a bit more about aid climbing. Not much aid experience, failed on Seventh Pillar once after really struggling to get a decent system for cleaning the steep wandering second pitch.

I may have time off work at that time. I live in sydney and dont drive. Can anyone from sydney give me a lift? I can also public transport it to Victoria. I am not a certainty but puting out the feeler.

Me and my gf will be driving up from Melbourne leaving about 6 pm on friday night with a couple of spare seats in the car. Happy to give anyone a lift from anywhere between here and there.

Scooby, organise yourself some basic kit before you lob up: daisies, fifi, and aiders if you can manage it, will save you some mucking around on the day. Bring gloves and (lightweight) kneepads too. Helmet, should go without saying.

11:55:24 AM
Only 17 sleeps left now!
Heh, heh, heh.
12:04:47 PM
Looking forward to it!
Rod - are you organising sites etc? Anything you need us to do?
