For the record (as a dog owner), dogs are allowed in _some_ State Parks (not Werribee Gorge, but at Dog Rocks for instance). They're not allowed in _National_ Parks though. Check out Parks Victoria's website at http://www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/ if you're interested.

Ah, Dog Rocks is not a state park, it's the Mt Alexander Regional Park.

Just checked out that link to Parks Vic and it has a whole section on dogs. It states 'In general State and National Parks do not allow you to bring your dog when you visit ...' I did find a couple of exceptions, including Point Nepean National Park that allows dogs on some beaches with restrictions.

Personally I think if I was to take the 'no dogs allowed' to the letter of the law I would be banned from climbing anything over 20 in my current form.

All uni clubs ever do is cause trouble. what do they actually do that's positive for climbing?

Surely there could be a new ban in locations like werribee gorge on the amount of people allowed in any one group, particularly uni groups.

This would solve a lot of problems and let us real climbers get on with what we love.

People like you cause access problems for everyone.
Sorry just dosn't cut it I'm afraid.
Your excuse is pathetic and so are you.
If you are as you say the president of the RMIT Outdoors Club then you should resign as by your actions you have shown you are not fit to hold such a position.
I would be sure that your actions are in breach of your club code charter or whatever and that you would know this.

For those that cant quite understand the magnitude of the crime with the dog in the park, just look at this photo as evidence,

You can clearly see the dogs tail sticking out from amongst the group of people at the back of the photo. Its a disgrace, outrage and now that the place has be ruin by this DOG!!!!!, I have vowed never to travel to werribee to climb the magnificent pristine towering rock faces. Paradise is ruined my friends, I hope this is a lesson learnt for all of us.

Disclaimer: The author may or may not have had any intention of climbing at werribee in the furture, and the said photo may or may not be related to the incident in question.

Wow this place looks gold, wish I lived in Vic. Think I'll cancel my next Sydney-Arapiles trip in favour of a visit there.

I don't think this is punishment enough. This dog incident ranks up there with the Holocaust.

I think the club president's genitalia should be lopped off and fed to the dog.

Meanwhile any virgins who are members of RMIT Outdoors Club should be sacrificied in a quest to appease the Werribee Gorge Gods.

You could always undertake an East coast tour of Australia taking in Kangaroo Point, the Big K, and
Weribee Gorge.

Billy,
Did Sally actually walk ALL the way from the car park? If so, and since photographic evidence has been sighted in this thread of her soloing a grade 18, I say she is worthy of climbing at Werribee Gorge again.

Rightiho then... That is a personal insult for sure. And I don't give a toss if you are trying to be funny, it certainly doesn't appear so, and if you say that's the case then you have certainly crossed the line.

As a moderator of this forum I've been pushing for a lot less censorship of late, but I won't tolerate personal insults. I want to spend my limited time on this forum posting my own comments, not playing headmaster. But anyway here it goes. I'll say this publicly and I’m saying it only once, so that you and anyone else who wants to try the same shit on knows perfectly well where they stand. And that's here:

When it comes to personal insults don’t expect (any more) warnings, not from me anyway. Do it again and you’ll be looking for another forum to spray your crap on. Simple as that. I hope I’ve made it quite clear.

And now bend over and touch your toes, whilst I give your back-side a through hiding… and then we get Sally in here to follow up by biting your arse.

Incidentally, I might have just removed the post but it had already being responded to. But still, if anyone involved wants it removed just send me a PM and consider it gone.

Rather than moderate posts it could be better to moderate users ...ie one of the best ways to cut this crap out of chockstone would be to disallow those anonomous accounts.. they are often the source of personal inuendos, etc...

OK so how does someone with a genuine hotmail account prove they are really who they are ..well, maybe they're allowed an account unless their langauage degenerates, and then rather than removing the post, close their account...

So they can just get aonther one, .. time may tell if such users have the time to waste creating bogus accounts...Or prehaps their are other ways to identify genuine users I have not thought of...

I am not trying to be funny and stand by what I have said in my previous post.
As a longstanding member of the climbing community you are aware of the issues relating to access to climbing areas and the need to respect the wishes of land managers to ensure continued access. I am sure if you had the time you would be able to rattle off any number of instances where access of climbing sites to the many has been denied due to actions of the few.
Many young people are introduced to recreational activities in our parks through groups like the RMIT Outdoor Club (Scouts, Schools, Local Clubs etc.) Some of us have been introduced by our peers. When introducing others to any outdoor activity it is important to instil in them the value of adhering to a code of conduct that will ensure preservation of the environment (that they are there to enjoy) and respect of the rights of other users and the wishes of land managers. I would have particularly thought that office holders of groups organising outdoor activities lead by example.
A quick check of the Parks website (http://www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/1park_display.cfm) and you will see it states quite clearly “ Dogs, cats and firearms are not permitted in the park.” There is no ambiguity there that I can see.
Neb has regarded the matter serious enough to report this matter on a public forum.
I take this issue quite seriously as I am sure Parks would should this matter have been reported to then. While offenders may be subject to monetary penalties, the climbing community as a whole will suffer when rights to access are withdrawn.

Check out my profile. It has a lot more information on it about me than some others.
If you don’t mind being the belay bitch to a 40 something trad climber (leading mid teens+). Email me and see if we can’t do something at the Jawbones one Saturday.

NC32,
You're right about the dog, I don't think anyone here disagrees with you. But how calling someone 'pathetic' furthers your point, or achieves anything at all, is beyond me. It'd be rude and inappropriate to say that to someone's face, just like its rude and inappropriate on here.
