Or a bot, a drone, a glitch in the matrix, a unicorn, or maybe even a troll... Nah.

The free guidance love is genuine, as you respond to easily to make trolling you worthwhile.
If you want a serious trolling then summon edweirdo cos even stugang goes to him for lessons.

That would have to be track racing - not encumbered by gears and brakes... ;-)

I'd be pretty keen- minimal aid experience but have been keen to upskill.
Gearwise - have own ascenders/daisy/ladders/fifi/ropes/basic trad rack
Let us know when the dates are set- i'll need to book a flight from north qld.

The focus this year is getting parties onto the North Wall of Buffalo if possible. If this fits your flavour then welcome to our world of exposure!

Due to there having been no posted dissent to date, please consider the date 'locked in' as being Buffalo Aidfest - 21 & 22 November 2015.

Since you are travelling by air, I am confident that you can get by with just personal gear, ie ascenders/daisy/ladders/fifi, (harness, belay device, shoes, helmet, as well as camping gear for an alpine environment/ food/etc), as there should be more than enough of the latter items that you listed, brought by other attendees.

The nearest reasonable sized airport is Albury and it is located about 120 km away, though the smaller Wangaratta airport is closer.
Albury has connecting flights to/from Sydney and Canberra.
I don't know for sure, but have not heard of commercial connection flights between Melbourne and Wangaratta, though there is a train service.

If you need transport from Albury (maybe even Canberra), I suggest making it known on this thread and then there is a good chance that others travelling by car from same north direction may be able to work in with your agenda.
Depending on flight costs (earlybird purchase deals etc), it might be equally economical to fly to Melbourne (even cheaper would be Sydney), and meet up with someone attending from that location?

Caveat: If the weather turns out to be ordinary for the event, then the likely agenda (revised?), will be determined by those who attend.

Getting out there and doing it, is the key to solving the quiz associated with 'necessity being the mother of invention' glasshopper...

>M9 - just got my self a moto cycle so might need to get some tips on best ways to load her up with aid gear !

Congrats!
What is your ride?
Will it attend the BAW'15?

If you are into cruise mode, then a wombat (read haulbag), is the go...
(& sorry for not replying earlier to your post that 'got lost' on page one of the thread ...)

(Thanks again Wollemi for the excellent pic.)

The Orange pack is sleeping/camping gear.
The long red pack with duct-taped end is a portaledge.
The blue wombat is a full complement of aid gear/ropes/harness/helmet/etc.
The black saddlebags are food and water, wet weather gear, clothing and ablution gear.
The topbox contained phone, headtorch, grog, shoes, bike security cable, etc.

Ideally one should bring less gear for a BAW, though I invariably have extra aid stuff for other folk attending.
Note: pi has the art down to a fine level, as his aid gear fits into a lunchbox and sherpaScott/orM75's pack; oh, and he leaves the motorbike at home too... ;-)
Did I just hear someone say that Ozy one day ascentionists are soft?
Heh, heh, heh.

Post edit:
I am reliably informed by PM from him that pi will bring the scotch night-cap for this upcoming BAW trip, so I can cut back the bikes load for BAW'15!

Soft? More like Soft and Lazy. All that hauling sounds like hard work.

Soooooo David Scarlett and Myself have been trying to figure out when we could give Ozy a go and it seems that the aidfest would be the perfect time, So thats what we intent to do - Probably over two (ish ?) days with at least one night on Big Grassy probably the Saturday or Sunday night.

Unsure what other people are planning but it might be the time to start throwing your thoughts into the ring....

What's wrong with brown rice? I'd think you were being racist, except I am allowing for the ambiguity of internet conversations in general.

I hear that apart from Country Road being pre-booked, there is also an offer of help for me* regarding introducing new-comers to the dark arts of Aiding, so that they don't feel left out.
At this stage I am keeping all options open to best cater for whatever mix of attendees attend, though high on my possible-scenario-list is accompanying certain person/s? up Defender Of The Faith as an introductory Nth Wall route...

One thing is for sure, and that is that there are plenty of options available within relatively close proximity to each other.

Hmm. Now that November has arrived we might also need to think about booking campsite/s, though north walling it is the 'free' option.

I hate to admit it but I am a rice supremacist. After living in Japan I couldn't (still don't like to) eat any rice bar Japanese rice... It just tastes better;)
