OOps -thanks, I meant 31/10 to 3/11 as a possibility for the 'Chock-Ya-Wolgan Hextradaganza' . . .
I'm not the best with numbers so just check if I say somethings a 2 pitch 15M2, I may be wrong . .
When's Halloween? That sound like an interesting time for some 'oooh, scary' type climbing . . .
May try to get out on the Dog for some practice if anyone is interested . . .

I wish i could come to the wolgan, (un)fortunately I have prior engagements in euroville.
But while people are talking about Aid and wolgan in the same sentence I want to raise the question Of the free possibilities of Sword of Damocles. I have a penchant for cracks and rooves. Not to suggest I am the best person for the job, but I could not help gawking at this equisite combination of crack and roof when I walked under it. The crack looks like it will accept JamBs or underclings at worst, with strenuous smearing, followed by a strenuous grunt into the bottomless chimney-sword arrangement but obviously I have not been up to verify this.
anyone been up there to feel it out in the last 30 years? anyone at all?

The weekend that macca is bantering around works for me, and i'd definitely be up for a wander down the valley in search of a new route/vertical bushwalk or two if anyone is keen...

I think it works for me too. Will we camp in the main campground (or better still over the river near the Coke Ovens?) Or are you thinking epic Macca, and wandering down to Big Glassy or similar?

Sounds good to me too. However, I remember walking to the base of that Sword of Damacles, and being astounded by the chossyness of it all.....cams? jamBs? will they even hold, this is the eternal question grasshoppers.....

I am pretty sure it has already been done free (more than once), but have no detail due to hearsay.

As far as choss goes, it is quite solid compared to other locations!
... though if you were to pull the sword while hanging off it you would find yourself back-splatted and clinging to a useless (& large) flake ...

I thought it had already been freed too.

So the 31st is next weekend.
WW&S and I will be heading up to the Wolgan on Thursday night.
Who else is going to be there?

I hope to be heading out thursday night as well - hoping zac will be up for it as well - work permitting . . .
Maybe we could make it fancy dress - I'm blood-strewn and have eight staples in my head currently . . .
Just don't want to look out of place, the staples need to to stay in for a week - the blood will wash off . . .
Cheers

Me and a mate are heading up from Melb...dunno where we will be though...thinking exploding galaxies or Big Glassy Corner...
Any online guides aside from ACA that have more aid routes in there? I have a few PDF's of Big Glassy and Exploding Galaxies, but nothing else...

Forecast is light rain Friday, heavy rain Saturday and showers Sunday. I'm using Lithgow as the closest town to the Wolgan, with a forecast.
This happens every time I plan to go to the Wolgan. I have spent more time tent bound in that valley than anywhere else. I'm bloody sick of it!
Duck! Duck! Duck!

Yeah - but apart from all that . . . Big Glassy has big roofs to keep you dry . . .
and I think the corner probably faces away from the prevailing wind and rain . . .
At least you don't have rocks attack you everytime you go there - I'd settle for rain! Duck! Duck! ....
