NEW Freezer & Cosmic Access Track 2014

Because of ongoing problems with the various methods climbers use to access these popular areas - a NEW track has been created. This trail has been negotiated with the 2 landowners whose private property we had previously been crossing (via the rail corridor).

Park at end of Donald Road, Clarence (as per the old carpark).

Instead of walking down the roads leading south-west (past the Buddhist Retreat), find a set of rock cairns on right side at the carpark marking the start of a climbers trail leading directly south and downhill (on the east side of the Buddhist retreat). There are also fluro orange tape markers and fluro orange reflectors attached to trees. The trail heads steeply downhill for about 10 minutes until it reaches a road - it is insanely well marked with tape/reflectors. Turn right and follow road for a couple of hundred metres until you reach the 5 Ways Big Tree and the continuation of the original trail. See Google Map for details...

If you see or hear about ANYONE using the old access track past the Buddhist retreat please let them know about the new track! Especially anyone from interstate or overseas or is using the old guidebook. Our access to these crags depends on us using this new track. And FFS, don't trash any private property / keep out signs!

I endorse the use of clog hexes as weapons for the enforcement of this alternative access.

I'm told it takes about 8 seconds more than the old track.

Also, if you are confronted by someone claiming ownership to the land you are walking on (or parking at) please be nice and courteous to them. Yelling and threatening with stick-clips do us no favors. Keep a low profile in general in the surrounding area, especially around the train tracks/tunnels/roads. Although we have an access solution now - this relies on the good behavior of us and the generosity of several private landowners and Railcorp/Sydney Trains. This could easily be undone if someone acts like a douche. Don't wreck it for everyone else just because you want to save 5 minutes (or 8 seconds) of walking.
