Anyone climbed Nicholas? A mate, of dubious reputation, suggested it was pretty darn rad and worthy of the excursion. Can anyone offer a comparison to Grimulus?

Awesome crack, harder than Grimulus for the crux, but way more grin inducing. Grimulus has nice moves, this is a more unique though...I like it better.

The walk in is less fun...

Yes it is rad! I tried it earlier in the year. I though it was much harder than Grimulus (which you can stem most of the way up). Its an awesome splitter crack which you need to jam in the off finger size. I would recomend taking multiple cams of this size, I got super pumped trying to wiggle in wires as I only had one set of cams. I had hoped to make a good onsight attempt but ended up flailing terribly, would love to go back when the weather warms up for a rematch.

Let me know if you need some more details finding it. The boneseed is pretty thick getting to it, but the crack is fairly obvious looking from the rifle range. The cliff does look straight down on the rifle range so don't go anywhere near the place when the range is open (which is pretty much all the time). We headed out there around 7pm in the summer and climbed late evening to be sure that no one was around. Be discreet in those areas outside the park, the quarry property is a bit more active these days so best to keep things pretty quiet out there.

Is Grimulus a new route that I haven't heard of? No relation to Grimulace by any chance?

Who cares about nomenclature.
I want to know how many shoes M75 finds, or throws away if he blames them for not getting up it.

You subscribe to that site?
Obviously M75 doesn't, not that it would help with his query anyway.

Thanks Harold and Fish Boy. With your excellent recommendations I'll go for an explore when the lead's not flying. Harold, I'll touch base for more details, and see if you're up for a summer evening play-date;)

Good catch Kieran, 'tis Grimulace. On the off chance I ever put up a new route (at Melton Creek) I reserve the right to name it Grimulus, or Juan;)

DD, I'd like to think I blame my own ineptitude, and lack of intestinal fortitude for not getting up things. In saying that, on the off chance I am filled with eptitude and fortitude, and surprise myself by getting up something, I'll dedicate the victory to my shoes;) I'll also catalogue any shoes I happen upon...
