Weather this weekend is looking slightly dodgy... perfect weather to make an atmospheric Goatfest film.
In other Goatfest news we have great food lined up with Semilla's Kitchen from Melbourne doing the catering. Can't wait.

So any sneak previews or trailers? or synopsis of films that people are going to submit?
Is Semilla's kitchen the one that was in the barn at the fringe? yummy x

Film-wise we've got a trailer from Dave Jones for an animation he's working on (see the poster and the goat-themed exhibition at the Goat Gallery), hopefully a trailer from Josh Caple for the film he's working on, a short from Simon Carter made with a digital SLR, an animation from Stuart Partridge, a song from Arapiles the Musical from Simey, and a short from me about Noddy almost killing himself as a young man (something he made quite a habit of but never quite pulled off). Also we'll have Noddy giving a short talk on Chris Baxter and Gareth Llewellin talking about some of the multipitch new routes he and Adam Donahue have done over the last few years. I was hoping to get the guys who did the Gramps bouldering guide to have a chat about that but they will both be OS. Any suggestions welcome.
...and we could use more films.

I'd love to make a film, I even have some ideas, the only problems are - I have no video camera, no video editing skills and no time. If I manage to rectify to the no time bit and someone can help me out with the camera and editing skills, I'll get one done. Failing that, I'll make one for next year ...

I'll be back at Araps filming in the not too distant future, email me if you wanna make something happen.

Bugger, Sarah. Oh well, it looks like it will be next year for my film now to as this is definately not the week to fit anything else into. Thanks for the offer Josh, depends how many weeks down the track it is ... June is looking promising ... why did I decide to study again?

Sorry to hear you won't be there Sarah - and Wendy sorry I've been offline, away working, you could use mine.

me too. I'll be there next year for sure.
Which song is Simey showing? You should get him to do two, if you're still short of stuff Arap rap rapalies one and Redpoint Blues - both so good I reckon Redpoint blues poss the better though. I've heard murmurs that Grug and CJ (stars of Araps the Musical are there at the mo too..) I'd say people would even like the bin one but don't think that's ready yet.
Enjoy guys hope all goes well. Very sad I won't be there.x

Just like to congratulate Dug on a sucessful Goat Fest. The room was packed. Despite the world's cheapest microphone and the new PA blowing up half way through the films, (upon which point I gained a lump on my forward from banging it on the stage) we managed to get through.
Though in the prize department I was robbed.

Agreed. I had a great night, the films were very entertaining. Any chance to see them online?

You can put that mic back in your daughter's Barbie Sing Along kit.
...... and well done to Doug and all the other volunteers who pitched in to make the night happen.

Sounds painful. Better than a lump on your backward though, I suppose.

It was a really good night, despite my computer spitting the dummy before the show and the amp during it. The Golden Goat was won by Ado Laing for Wild Thing and the Silver Goat by Simon Mentz for Redpoint Blues. Many thanks to the volunteers who made it all happen.
As for seeing the films online, it's up to the individuals who made the films if they want to put them on the web.
Next year, as well as the short film comp and some speakers, there'll be a showing of all the shameful ads that we can find that Australian climbers have been a part of.

So here's the night's winner. Easy and fun to make, so start working on your entries for next year! A good excuse to come down to Nati and collect the prize too...
