Are they putting advertising on the timber steps now?

No, Summit Gear has been a sponsor of TrackCare and provided heaps of lucky draw prizes. BMCC staff decided to brand the steps with the names of significant contributors to the project. Any other names you see on the steps are of people who've shown up on numerous days to help.

Umm.....I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that's still advertising.
Which, I have no problem with, by the way.

Is it??
They didn't pay for it, they didn't expect it. It's just a list of contributors to the project.

No need to get your hipsters in a knot.
Having the name of a business such as Summit Gear branded onto a step, as shown in the photo, is advertising, whether they asked for it or payed for it or not.
Ever heard of the term ' free advertising'?
Well, that is an example.

No, the masses wont see it. Climbers will see it and since climbers and outdoor types are Summit Gear's customers, it will be quite effective.
As I said initially, I have no problem with that.
I think it's a wee bit ugly and crass but that's just me and the only time I go anywhere near the Blue Mountains is when I'm on my way to the Wolgan, so it wont be offending my sensabilities in the slightest.

Advertising isn't a 30sec spot on tv. It's any method of getting their branding and/or message to their
potential customers. This is a dream placement and opportunity. Not only was it free, but it's almost
permanent! (unlike a tv ad). Ad agencies have whole departments working on this sort of underground
marketing - especially when you are dealing with gen x y cynical climbers.

So
Is anyone going to help?

Not to mention the followup "generation ADHD" who can't focus on anything for more than 15 seconds!

If I was in the Blueys still Mikl, I'd definitely be there.
For anyone else considering it, get along. It's a surprisingly fun day. Then in the future, if you accidentally go climbing at Bardens you'll walk up the stairs glowing with pride and self importance. It's also a good opportunity to meet other climbers, and marvel at how uncoordinated some of them are with tools (apart from drills) in their hands.

I'm glad MacDonalds in Blaxland weren't a sponsor of Trackcare.
I'd come up and help if I lived closer but it's just too far for me now.

Does anyone have a spare seat heading up from anywhere near CBD?
I could use a workout and I can definitely take care of a few of those sausages.

Are there anyone who can give me a lift back to Sydney from Blueyes on Sunday?
Some of my friends will take me to Mt York camping area tomorrow, Saturday, after Boyce climbing.
Sunday morning I can just walk up to Track Care site as an early bird this time. sounds sunny and not much wind this year.
some DRINKs, fruits, and Sausage sizzle will be ready for lunch soon.
Maybe send some routes afterwards.
See you guys at Barden's Lookout on Sunday if you make it.
Cheers
