You're absolutely spot on Neil (from my experience so far anyway). My NSW climbing partner doesn't seem to get excited like I do.....and even though I know he enjoys getting out and climbing, he seems much more laid back. It's just a day here or there...or half day. It drives me nuts! I keep mentioning doing a 2 week pilgrimage to Araps. Driving 4 hours and camping out definitely makes you want to get as much out of it as you can in the time you have.

Newnes.
Warrumbungles.
Kaputar.
... or even Wingello!
Heh, heh, heh.

Newnes is probably on a par with the 4-hour drive to Arapiles but the bungles and kaputar are major missons. Then again, we did drive to Buffalo for a weekend.

I'm talking about a campground full of climbers every weekend. Most of the NSW campgrounds would have a mere handful of die-hards, probably only one tent on most weekends. Abandoned all-together during the week.

Have you had an MRI yet? If not, see a decent surgeon and get a referral for one. At least you'll know one way or another. Surgery sucks but its not the end of the world. I had 9 months off after a SLAP repair which took ages to diagnose properly so I know what it feels like. It was a pretty grim time but I'm pretty much back to my pre-surgery level so you can still come back strong- Look at Chris Webb after his op.

I'm pissed because I still live in Brisbane. All the rock is too far for a half day and I can very rarely get out for a full day. Ahhhh.... to be back on Sydney's outskirts again.

The Glasshouse Mtns are 50km from the CBD! Easy for a half day if you get up early enough. I once managed to drive up super early, walk to the summit of Tibro, hand-drill 5 bolts and drive back to Brisbane to arrive at work before 9am. It is possible!

For me Tibro is a 2 hour journey. Frog is closer, I can be there in an hour and a bit. You're right getting up early is the crux. Still pissed though, it is Brisbane after all.

Yeah so I initially went to an osteo as I didnt think it was too bad, this wasn't working so I had a chat with the osteo and and he said get an MRI which I did and then after a discussion with the osteo we changed what we were doing - No joy - Took it to a sports medicine shoulder specialist and he thinks it a small posterior labral tear which he thinks can be be sorted through phsio but if not its surgery.

If its a postirior tear, I dont know if its a SLAP repair or PLAP repair ???

Not exactly sure how it works myself. SLAP stands for Superior Labrum Anterior to Posterior meaning thats the direction it has torn in. Some labral tears you can live with and some you can't apparently. I went through the same process going from Osteo - Physio (then Ultrasound) - Sports Physician (then Cortisone Shot) (then MRI) and finally a surgeon who told me exactly how it was. My suggestion is therefore to head to a good surgeon for some straight talking. If you've a decent tear, it won't heal itself (or not to the extent that you need it to), no matter what anyone tells ya. See Jerome Goldberg at Orthosports (he did mine), Des Bokor, or Jonathan Herald (look them up) - They would be three of the best in Sydney. Good luck!

Officially pissed off now. Weekend one Climbing plan buggered 3 weeks ago. Followed closely by the following weekends climbing plans suitably buggered also. This weekend, wedding-also buggered potential climbing weekend. The 'official' bit kicks it now with the next 2 weekends climbing out the bloody window also! Thank you for starting this thread, Im feeling a little better now, though still fat and bored.

It takes a bit to piss me off, however I saw on SBS TV news tonight that a woman in Iran, sentenced to death by stoning for alleged adultery, recently had a photograph of herself published in a London newspaper. It was a photo of her face and because she was not wearing the burka (sp?) covering it, she has been given an additional sentence of 99 lashes with a (cane or whip)?

The little I have heard of the case indicates that the adultery charge is questionable, however regardless of the morality / lack of it, this/these punishments are just plain wrong (in my white-anglo-saxon-western-way-of-thinking).

This pisses me off.
I now understand better where racism, or at least religeous-ism can begin.

Well it pisses me off too, but I also get pissed off by people wanting to go and invade because of it. There is no historical example of democracy being successfully installed by force. The stuff going on now in the Arab world shows that a real change comes from inside.

Yeah, the Simon's Cat series has been confirmed as pretty accurate by several cat owners I know.

My dog does exactly the same thing when he needs to pee. I wonder if waking up early to let him out is more or less annoying then cleaning it up off the floor.
