As I understand it...
It is coming, although not here yet.
When it arrives, unless made retrospective, the first time you go to register/re-register after it is introduced, ... your airbags will need to comply.
My hope is that the industry that makes them will stand up and say, 'Hey, the deployment mechanism in these items is good for at least double that use-by date'.
In the meantime, the longer they dither, the longer some items will go beyond expiry/compliance.
