Maybe not as much as you, but i havent done as much LSD either. I gather thats your area of interest.
HST effort= Whoops! What am I saying? Tall stories, ho, ho... We are motorcycle people; we walk tall and we laugh at whatever's funny. We shit on the chests of the Weird....

CJ effort= His decapitated head bounced off his guitar and into the fire. His headless body still trying to play a couple last chords.
its not far off.

I can't match the face in the video to the one in the profile pic... though he does like psytrance.

Maybe someone that's met him could verify

Gees, and you're calling CJ the a-hole. thats the most ghastly thing i've ever read on chockstone.

To state the obvious (and point out all the hypocrisy):
* if "tool" = drug-assisted partying in the pines, plus a personality that rubs some people up the wrong way, then everyone here is a tool (mormons excepted (at least on this ground)).
* if you want a good sleep don't camp in the pines. Its been party central for what, 30 years?
* if everyone has such a problem with heavy drinking ... then why the complete silence about all the substance (ab)use (legal or not) which is continually idolised on chockstone, around the campfire and in climbing mags?
* if you don't want to deal with diverse personalities, you're in the wrong sport.

I don't know anything about the biffo but have climbed with CJ a couple times, including a week in Yangshuo, he ain't nuthin' like me but we still managed to get along and had a good time. I'm with Bam Bam and alrob...

Fark yea! Nothings more boring than a whole campground of climbers going to bed at dark leaving the place reminding you of an old peoples home. More alcoholic, drug fuelled antics and bullshit beside the campfires please!

'... strange men wearing checkered shirts in the bathroom of his favorite club, getting incredible kicks off substances he'll never experiance...' -- the jist of a HST quote that springs into my mind as i read this thread...

Is it just me, does anyone get this... mormons excepted.

the pines party central !! oh hold me back. when i think party central then a bunch of feral climbers drinking red wine, playing hacky, fire twirling and slacklining is not what i am thinking. twins in the hot tub maybe but not the pines.

Mostly the problem with heavy drinking brings out the dickhead in people, a few cones has a different result.

sure but if diversity means some f---w...t is waking me up in the middle of the night then i might be inclined to discuss acceptance of others with them in a langauge they might understand

For the 15 years I have been climbing at Araps I expect to be woken up every so often by drunkards, dope smokers and fools just stuffing around, and I hope it continues. If i want somewhere quiet i camp somewhere else

Well your either a d******d pot smoker so don't realise or never been around one, dope can make people just as much a d******d as drinking or any other drug.

Well i guess you would know.
Why is it acceptance of diversity only goes one way. Diversity also means acceptance of those people who dont want to be woken up by f...wits like you who selfishly carry on like they are the only ones that matter. its a shared space and that goes both ways.

I assume that if its O.K for crew to keep me awake until the small hours in the Pines with there drunken activities then it's O.K for me to put my two sub 3 yr olds out the front of their tent at 6.00 am and they can listen to them scream and cry due to lack of sleep??

I agree acceptance does go both ways. But if you want to sleep you don't got to the noisiest place to do so. any sensible person would go to the gums where it is typically quieter.
The pines has a history of parties and noise late at night this is part of the history of the pines and i hope it continues, it what make all the great stories of the place. I also hope for many quiet weekends climbing and sleeping I will just choose somewhere else to camp.
If you don't want to get woken up don't camp in the pines! simple! If you want to camp in the pine then you run the risk of being woken up. It's not rocket science!

Ok seriously, now my imagination is running wild; hexes being used as maces, nut
keys attached to tent poles and used as spears, chalk bombs.....

A song that comes to mind when reading some of these posts... ; )

"The Irony of it all"
The Streets

Hello, hello. my names terry and Im a law abider
Theres nothing I like more than getting fired up on beer
And when the weekends here I to exercise my right to get paralytic and fight
Good bloke fairly
But I get well leery when geezers look at me funny
Bounce em round like bunnies
Im likely to cause mischief
Good clean grief you must believe and I aint no thief.
Law abiding and all, all legal.
And who cares about my liver when it feels good
Wwhat you need is some real manhood.
Rasher rasher barney and kasha putting peoples backs up.
Public disorder, Ill give you public disorder.
I down eight pints and run all over the place
Spit in the face of an officer
See if that bothers you cause I never broke a law in my life
Someday Im gonna settle down with a wife
Come on lads lets have another fight
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eh hello. my names tim and Im a criminal,
In the eyes of society I need to be in jail
For the choice of herbs I inhale.
This aint no wholesale operation
Just a few eighths and some playstations mys vocation
I pose a threat to the nation
And down the station the police hold no patients
Lets talk space and time
I like to get deep sometimes and think about einstein
And carl young and old kung fu movies I like to see
Pass the hydrator please
Yeah Im floating on thin air.
Going to amsterdam in the new year - top gear there
Cause I taker pride in my hobby
Home made bongs using my engineering degree
Dear leaders, please legalise weed for these reasons.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Like I was saying to him.
I told him: top with me and you wont leave.
So I smacked him in the head and downed another carling
Bada bada bing for the lads night.
Mad fight, his faces a sad sight.
Vodka and snake bite.
Going on like a right geez, hes a twat,
Shouldnt have looked at me like that.
Anyway Im an upstanding citizen
If a war came along Id be on the front line with em.
Cant stand crime either them hooligans on heroin.
Drugs and criminals those thugs on the penny coloured will be the downfall of society
Ive got all the anger pent up inside of me.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
You know I dont see why I should be the criminal
How can something with no recorded fatalities be illegal
And how many deaths are there per year from alcohol
I just completed gran tourismo on the hardest setting
We pose no threat on my settee
Ooh the pizzas here will someone let him in please
We didnt order chicken, not a problem well pick it out
I doubt they meant to mess us about
After all were all adults not louts.
As I was saying, were friendly peaceful people
Were not the ones out there causing trouble.
We just sit in this hazy bubble with our quarters
Discussing how beautiful gail porter is.
Mtv, bbc 2, channel 4 is on until six in the morning.
Then at six in the morning the sun dawns and its my bedtime.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Causing trouble, your stinking rabble
Boys saying Im the lad whos spoiling it
Youre on drugs it really bugs me when people try and tell me Im a thug
Just for getting drunk
I like getting drunk
Cause Im an upstanding citizen
If a war came along Id be on the front line with em.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now terry youre repeating yourself
But thats okay drunk people cant help that.
A chemical reaction inside your brain causes you to forget what youre saying.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
What. I know exactly what Im saying
Im perfectly sane
You stinking student lameo
Go get a job and stop robbing us of our taxes.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Err, well actually according to research
Government funding for further education pales in insignificance
When compared to how much they spend on repairing
Leery drunk people at the weekend
In casualty wards all over the land.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why you cheeky little swine come here
Im gonna batter you. come here.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Pines may have a history of parties etc, but that does not make it compulsory.
If the entire camp is up and partying then that is fine, but to walk noisily into a camp of 80+ people sleeping and nary a sound at 11pm and start partying is gross ignorance and arrogance. Rather than bloody your #10 hexes in a brawl it would be better to report the offenders to the Rangers, who have the power to expel them from the park. Or, as I did, ask them politely to turn the volume down. The guy on guitar was actually pretty good when playing unaccompanied.
