>AnthonyK.. funny thing about your comment. That did happen to me awhile back..I was chatting to a guy and I mentioned some activity and enthusiastically invited him along ( no strings attached). I swear he leapt backwards 5 metres and ran running from the room!

Picking up 101: The Challenge. If you make it too easy from the outset, you will have very little luck. Make them work for it. The easiest way to pick up the hottest girl in a bar is to be introduced as a great guy by her best friend. This is once 'n a while, so lets look at the second most reliable way: being the only one who isn't trying to pick her up. Women want what they can't have. Surely this is nothing you don't know??!
Men are generally easier to seduce, (not from experience, from being one) but same rules apply.
Lesson #2: Confidence coming soon...

you're expecting someone to wear their heart on their sleeves and risk being shot down before they've gotten to know you? i imagine if someone is that confident straight off they're only seeing tits, ass and a cute smile, i thought girls whinged about guys being superficial

no wonder girls go for assholes, they like to see confidence and self-assurance but how can you really expect that unless a) someone has never been turned down or b) they're oblivious to the outside world & only aware of their own self-importance or c) they think you're worth it, but wouldn't that take time to work out as well?

You're right Anthonyk. It's hard to differentiate between c--ky, confident and charming.

Maybe I've been tainted with past experiences... I once met a guy [somewhere in the lovely bush], we bumped into each other again in Melbourne and had the most amazing connection at a mutual friends party. I didn't think I'd see him again. But a little while later, I bumped into his friend (who held the party) and he passed a message to me from this wonderful boy. The message he wanted me to have was that he thought I was amazing and really loved talking to me and that he would love it if I came to visit him at this farm.... I jumped out of my skin! With no composure, I blurted out that I thought he was amazing too.

Of cause he won my heart over (and I hope to think that I did too) and then proceeded to tear my heart apart eight months later...

I'm not sure that every confident guy is a cad, but yes they are out there. I guess what I'would love is to meet some guy who was confident in the fact that they liked me. Could stake their pride on it. That there was this super chemistry that compelled them to need to know me (and vise versa - of cause)... Loony I know. And not be in a situation where you test the waters cause the lands dry, if you know what I mean.

Unlike DaCrux's situation (congratultions by the way!!) he's no longer mine. Instead he's with some crappy other girl who's even more unco than I am but she's all... I love climbing cause you love climbing.. will you show me how strong you are... grr!

new question... how have others gone through the pitfalls of seeing ex's and their new partners? Climbing is such a close knit community. Everyone seems to know everyone!!

You should move to Natimuk and really throw yourself into the mix.

Given the number of spunky, interesting women in the climbing scene I tend to reflect on my good fortune at having been involved with some of them, rather than being jealous of their new partners.

It isn't always plain sailing though, but in the long run you just move on in life.

You would not believe how many people confronted me on that one, thinking it was a direct attack on

Marriage, wedding cakes... I don't feel comfortable looking at that stuff... think I am breaking out in a rash.
