No, I didn't get drunk and piss in the tank to get at the crusty, rainwater drinking climbing bums(i promise). :D I was able to bring up enough melbourne tap water to keep me moist, but plenty of others were drinking tank water happily. Rust, tannins, pollen or whatever i'm sure it's fine.
