The upper water droplet contains what appears to be the reflection of the water source and not a flash. You did well to sidelight it enough to get no refraction, and I guess had the flash set remote from the camera.
My old fashioned experience with macro was that the lense was so close to the subject that a camera mounted flash often 'overshot' the subject.
I am impressed by the 'evenness' of the lighting, that you have achieved.
Your Mt Hotham shot shows that have a good eye for texture and repetition. Many a walker would not 'see' the pattern created by the snow in the grass, as they would be too enchanted by the cloud-show happening at the time. The bald tree-limbs repetition and patterned / rounded hillside repetition shows to good effect the wide angle spectrum as compared to your macro stuff earlier.
It is good to see the results from your getting out there and doing it!
