Stoked to be back in the Vic Range today. Beautiful weather, lots of water and flowers. On way out passed HBs van parked at Lost World. Good day.

We were at the Gallery. Cultivation Creek was pumping. Didn't see another soul. Maybe people don't realise the area is open again?
The short part of the walking track up to the art site appears to have been closed by PV - they've dumped all the cut wood over it the whole distance and let the turn off overgrow. The path up from the shelter is fine, but the path that heads of left just after the bridge is overgrown.

Are all of the previously closed areas open again? Number of places I am pretty keen to get out and see!!

Stoked I survived the first of 17 weeks training with nothing more serious than minor bruises and soreness...

Lots of them are. As far as i can tell, most of the Vic range crags. The road along the top of the range is closed, and strictly speaking, so is the walking track up to the Fortress, but Red Rocks Rd, Buandik, Harrap Track and the like are all fine. Plus the Ass's Ears and the Chimney Pots. Still no access to the Serra Range, nor Rosea and Bundaleer. Not sure about Barbican Rocks or the Dials.

but which one is a sportman?
I am a m/c racer from way back and it's intense and sweat soaked, but I always wondered if it was sport

Definetly sport. Its physical, requires immense concentration and coordination, skill and balls.

I'm stoked that Wendy just gave me good news!
Though I will have to post in the anti-stoked section that I have not got someone to go to those places with for the moment

Stoked about the weather forecast for Mt Hutt this week. 80cm fresh dry pow then fine and sunny the day I get there.

Yeah we had about 20-30 cm in Christchurch last night - just finished shovelling the car out. More snow/rain predicted this week in ChCh. It has been pretty bare in places this winter up high.
Although on my own stoked topic - stoked that Marta and I climbed Rome Ridge (Mt Rolleston) on Saturday in pretty mint conditions!

Did you come to a conclusion?
I would be interested in exploring that concept some more, ... but over in the off-topic motorcycling thread.

Hows the glacier at the base looking ? the last time i was on that route it was a frozen mud moraine with fixed lines just to get around the edge.
took a short cut on the way down by way of the funicular
even with all the new bolts its still loose and scary, well done.

Glacier at the base? It was all scree - the one step up two steps down kind (makes descending a hell of a lot easier though). There was no snow on route and only one small patch of snow on the decent. We expected to be able to French Free the harder bits if need be...we couldnt. The 7a was probably the most scary climbing I have ever done and the bolts were never closer then about three or four metres (that was the good bits!)

Stoked!
The western side of the Weddin Mountain National Park, which I had written off for roped climbing, appears to have more quality boulders than I had ever imagined.
This one is next to a walking track and has bullet hard sandstone that I haven't really seen in NSW before.
There are literally hundreds of them in the park.

Kieran, I'm the only climber, let alone boulderer, in a bloody big area.
Weddin Mountain is about 50km long and the whole western side looks to have boulders all over the place. Even if every boulderer in Sydney decided to make the four hour drive out here, I think I'd be able to find somewhere to boulder here and not see anyone.
Anyway, a few more trips up some of the other gullies on the western side will shed more light on the potential of the area.
I don't think the crowds will arrive just yet.
