Hard Rock secrets of success

The whole advert is a pretty tenuous link at best, more like a big joke. But I don't know exactly who the joke is on?
The climbers who are represented thus...
The buyers who think this vehicle has anything to do with being 'outdoorsy'...
Or Landrover for paying big money on an advert that means F-all to 99.999% of its potential buyers.
I suppose the advertising execs are the only ones laughing.
The biggest w@nk about the whole "outdoorsy 4wd" thing is that the only "offroad" these ridiculous things are used for is not getting bogged in the carpark when little Verity's pony club day gets rained out.

How about honest advertising:
"Introducing the Landrover Taxloophole . What use is room for a pony unless you have room for the saddles?"
OR
"New Landrover Buxom, for the trophy wife who parks by feel"

"The new Landrover Do-gooder. Humane society approved leather seats"

"Presenting the Landrover Leftwing. Its about having your chardy - and sipping it too"

The above sentance could b read in two ways.

Sabu (minus) rockclimbing (equals) success

In the original ironic sense, it still is, HT.

Awesome! If there were more people in advertising with your talent, ads would actually be worth looking at.

Canberra: Today the government announced a brand new Landrover model - the Landrover WorkChoices. Created at a cost of $70 million, for the purpose of educating the taxpayer on their options. John Howard said, "Surveys have shown that many Australians think these laws might enable employers to take advantage of their workers. This is money well spent as this could not be further from the truth. Don't forget, Kevin Rudd's wife has been taking advantage of her employees under the WorkChoices laws." Kevin Rudd didn't really say anything but his poll results are up anyway. The WorkChoices landrover is free but you have to take a pay cut of $25,000 a year and give up all your annual leave. Union members are ineligible.

Since getting involved with saving Orangutans - through the sale of $1.00 freddos at the counter - you ,the climbers and visitors have spent around $7000.00 and for every $1.00 that you spent- Hardrock puts $1.00, the last count we have raised about $15grand, this has allowed us to rescue, rehabilitate and release 1 Orangutan,( it costs $6grand to look after just one) we have purchased medical supplies, and lots of supplys have been donated, we have purchased food and assisted with vets looking after the badly injured Orangutans.
One of the best things we can all do is stop buying items with Palm oil in as the Orangutans habitats are being cut down to plant palm oil trees, there is no where for them to live. Hardrock thanks eveyone for helping look after our closest relative Orangutans have 97% same dna as us, or vice versa, if you want to know more- www.orangutans.com.au thanks eveyone- Sue

don't get me wrong cos I really do mean it..."good on yer for the orangutan stuff"

but wtf has helping a couple of animals with '97% of the same dna as ours' and protecting their habitat
from the evil palm tree harvesters (100% dna as ours) got to do with the hypocrisy of being involved in an
advertisement for 4wd's that very very few people actually need...and what is worse, championing the
concept of success portrayed in the advert ...god forbid if the "third world palm oil harvesters" ever
started wanting the same amount of useless status landrovers as us.

i was interested as to how this statement about all the orangutan stuff came about. it wasn't as if we were debating the credability of the fund etc etc. Rather a general advert and then this appears out of the blue!
