Therefore 'I am'; ... I think?
:)
Sounds like the old "which came 1st ?, ... chicken or egg" routine to me.
The ethos of ethics can be an end in its own right, ...
When I climb ... seldom do I muse on ethics but instead mostly I climb to enjoy the place and the movement/moves (both mental and physical), plus the company I am with.
The reality of the moment is of greater importance to me, as my 'ethics' (concerning the climb) have long been squared away before I even roped up!
If I become buggered through falling off, and am tempted to pull on a draw (for example), I know it is garbaging my preferred ethic but it is much more a practical consideration than an ethical one at the time!
Maybe that is why I still participate in aid climbing, as it is more 'honest' to acknowledge I could never get into those outrageous locations without pulling on every placement !!
