So Oz does have some way cool DWS after all...

You'll be hearing a lot more about Crafty's and other areas on the Hawkesbury River no doubt!

Nice motor drive seq Simon. I hope the water temp is warm enough in a weeks time! I am very keen to
check this place out.

BTW - whats the ethic with this sort of stuff? Do people rap inspect - or is it all 'water' up?

We tried a few routes boat up, but soon got our act together and started rap cleaning, alot of the routes here require the use of pockets that needed de-spider webbing, or had the occasional bit of lose stuff removed, so I guess rap inspection is the go if you are looking for a new line, otherwise its more fun to go boat up.

yeh we were all psyched for onsight ground up and the whole deal... but the pockets were so full of mud and crap that after a day or so on the first trip we all realised that we wouldnt get anywhere if we didnt clean them...now that most stuff is cleaned though you have no excuse :)

The look of resignation and calm on chris's face in the shot after he missed the pocket is a cack!

Nice to read and see something new in Australian climbing that you can get genuinely excited about.

The few photos I've seen look pretty inspiring.

Look forward to seeing some topos showing lines, grades, stars and heights of various routes.

theres my 16ish arete 'i am the walrus' (14 climbing but headfactor = 17ish) and jasons 16 crack 'crafty little number' but if you fall of them you're pretty well f*cked (we've got footage of the FAs and of me & JP jumping off the top, i might post a little clip) aparently the arete has now been toproped and was 'fun'
on the main wall there is a 20/21 that goes up to a sitdown, then theres a 20? traverse and a *** 22 are the easiest from there
everyone can have fun there but honestly to do the better lines you wanna be able to crank 24/25 pretty solidly, the best lines are 26/27 at least, much harder stuff to go up too

Jbay however is more suitable to the beginner & is great for getting your head around the DWS thing. its about half the height or a little less of craftys and theres some awesome 21ish things there, also grade A 23/24/25/26. and an excellent bouldering cave down the other end.
oops i might have said too much :) well you'll get way more detail in the guide

There is a 21, cramp dancer Antho did which tops out,on the left, direct is about 24 as well as an excitement 22, aquarios onthe right and not drowning waving 23. at halfway height there is fishing line,21, which traverses most of the steep wall. The waterline traverse is around 23?

the waterline traverse (cronulla karma) was originally graded 23 by haasnoot but we've pretty much settled on 25

>i can't seem to open the image that you put on chockstone of chris.
>what do i do to access this?

Well... in case anyone else is having the same trouble...

Are you on dial-up? Maybe that's the problem. It's a 500kb image file (an animated GIF, which any browser should display), it should just appear, but if you are on dial up it might take a while to load...

Incidenatlly, the image is linked from my web site, but when we launch my all new site in the next few months the file might disappear... so if you don't see an image there just imagine a motor drive sequence of a guy climbing up, high-step the right foot, popping for tiny pocket, missing to snag it, and taking about a 7m plunge into the mighty Hawkesbury River... Sorry - I know that's not much substitution for the photos!
