I have always found this good for healing the wound type cuts and scratches etc, but have not tried it simply for its moisturising effects. It certainly does not remain 'greasy' like lanolin tends to.

Aloe Vera is great for reducing scaring as well.

Speaking of scarring- I found a product called MelaGel or something (apparently uses melaleuca oil??) which i used on serious rope burn on my arm and the back of my leg after a big fall, and i applied the gel to my arm but not my leg, and now i have no scarring at all on my arm, and a scar on the untreated leg...

anyone used this before??

I've never heard of MelaGel and there seems to be very little research about it. There is some evidence that tea tree oil reduces inflammation and has anti-microbial properties. Keeping wounds moist (which most gels do) improves healing and therefore reduces scar formation.
I wouldn't recommend using metho or alcohol tho, because they destroy healthy granulating (healing) tissue.

Rich, I think its time you realised the inadequacies of Lanolin. Its time for some hardcore metho abuse!

Plus if you have some left over it makes for a cheap night in ;)

Resurrection Aromatique hand balm is the best for dry cracked hands, hands down.

The things you learn - there really is a vogue.com.au forum (http://www.vogue.com.au/forums/). I can't see Neil's username there, but he might use a pseudonym.

My GF is addicated to it as much as I am to Chockstone. I normally laugh at the silly girly topics that I
have seen on the vogue forum - then i see we have a similar topic here! Luckily Rich's hideous fingers
would put off most prissy girls....

oh I'm not really worried about meeting people who might be crazy, more that the vogue forum is like my secret life away from my real one! And it's not something that I have ever shared with my family or friends so trying to explain the whole concept and on top of that why I am going to meet some "new friends" (hopefully! ) might be a little hard..

need dependent:

severe wear = booze, rest and thick moisturiser.

abrasions = a cauterising antiseptic spray until the surrounding area stops being red/inflamed (up to 48 hours). thereafter, a thick medical cream to aid the skin healing process but stop thick scab formation.

major cuts = steri-strips until such time as it cauterises (36-48 hours) plus similr treatment as abrasions.

in all cases i apply frequent massage to promote blood flow.
