I've just joined this site and forum in the last month, but i'd be keen to meet up with everyone for a beer and a climb, why doesn't Mike just set a date in October and thats that. He is the organizer of the site, so i think it's most important that he attends a chocstone gathering, where all the Climbing / computer nerds can gather... ( I am a computer nerd....but a climber none the less....) hehehe Set a Date Mike !!!!!!

Yep - set a date. My weekends are usually booked at least 2 months ahead!

Beware Mike when setting a date - there are a few events on in October. There are the ASCF Bouldering Nationals on one weekend; and Corinne Kassay's bouldering comp finals on another weekend (19th October). You don't want to conflict with these events as lots of Chockstoners are competing. If we're having a one-day catchup, an ideal day could be on the 18th October, since most people won't bother heading away for the entire weekend since they have to be in Melbourne on the Sunday to compete. ????

Back to the top you get...

C'mon, name the place (Town Hall Hotel - North Melbourne(some bluestone), name a date (18th October - Thanks Jac).
Personally I don't give a shit where or when, I'll be there if I can, so if someone has a better idea POST IT!

Whoa up there "pat". Anyway, I thought we were waiting for better weather. Dog Rocks at Mt Alexander, sometime later in the year when we can count on a sunny day.

OK, I'm going to go so far as to declare that the gathering will be on October 18th. Can someone pls decide on a destination that isn't too far from Melbourne, such that those competing in the bouldering comp on the Sunday won't have any fuss getting there

I like the Mt.Alexander - Dog Rocks idea... Nice out of the way spot with easy access for all.. If you like the BBQ/picnic idea the oak plantation is pretty nice. If you like RED Blackjack wines in Harcourt do that etc. etc.

I'll go for the wine! ......

So, should I pencil in the 18th at Dog Rocks? (never been there, so a new adventure should well and truly be on the cards.....)

New rock for new onsights, and right before a trip up north to the Blueys! yeee haaww!

Sounds fine by me, but won't people be worried about trashing their finger tips on the granite of Dogs, and generally over indulging on food and beverages, the day before the Vic Ranges final? It also occurs to me that some people might have to work on a Saturday. Perhaps the following Sunday (Oct 26th) would be better? Up to you all. Any sunny weekend day in the future is fine by me.

What seems to be the problem here? I've just cancelled my wedding.
It wouldn't matter if we put it off until Arapiles weathers to dust, someone will have something on, so let's do it Oct 18th and organise another one after everyone who goes enjoys it. Can Mike maybe put it up on the homepage?

P.S. Bring the kids Pat

Small gas barby yes, but I think everyone should bring a Trangia, there must be a record we can break...

We're going to need the full Binford 6100 BBQ to cope with you lot. Us vegetarians will be the pale sickly looking people over in the corner poking wistfully at some kind of vegetable matter...

I can't climb :-( BUT I might be able to borrow a BBQ from work (big enough to feed a stack of kids so might suit you lot)... I'll look into it
