Rich,
sounds like you guys are having a great time over there.
We'll be getting into Tonsai next Monday arvo.
Probably staying at Krabi Mtn View or Dream Valley.
Sounds like you're climbing well (7b's). You'll have to go try Knights in white satin @ 1,2,3, Cafe
Andaman, Quartz & Orange Juice.
cheers
Johan

I know this is a very late reply, but I was recently in Railay, and had to drive through Krabi/Ao Nang. I'm please to say that most things are rebuilt, and life seems to have restored. Amazing what mankind is capable of after such a disaster.
I also had the previlege of climbing in Railay w/
Hot Rock, and it was spectacular. I definately recommend it.

I was there recently, if anything it's now more commercialised than it was prior to the Tsnami.....Bugger!

My fiance and I just got back from Thailand and a lot of places are still recognisable, apart from some of the bars on Railey West that look different (I haven't been there for four years so my memory of the area is hazy). I also have the impression that there (and a lot of other coastal areas) they have built more expensive accommodation since the tsunami cleared out a lot of the crappier bungalows. This is not a bad thing I guess (in terms of locals making a living) and it's still overall a cheap place to visit. Didn't seem hugely more commercial but then we didn't go into Ao Nang. We did more diving this visit which in April is much more refreshing than sweating away on a wall and swatting mozzies away...
